đ Fourth Wing Gave Me Whiplash, a Crush, and Trust Issues
A Review of Dragons, Drama, and Absurdly Hot Enemies
Letâs be honest: I started reading Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros expecting dragons and danger.
I did not expect to walk away emotionally attached, slightly unhinged, and wondering how many times I could reread the same enemies-to-lovers scene before it became a personality trait.
This book is like getting hit in the face with a flaming sword made of hormones and betrayalâand I was into it. đ đ„
đ The Plot (Without Spoilers⊠Okay, Maybe One)
The story follows Violet Sorrengail, a girl who was supposed to be a bookish scribe, until her war-general mom shoves her into dragon rider school where the life expectancy is shorter than a TikTok trend.
Sheâs physically weaker than her peers, allergic to confrontation, and armed only with sass and survival instincts.
Enter: Xaden Riorson â brooding, terrifying, possibly evil. (So obviously, weâre obsessed.)
The stakes?
Survive school, donât get burned alive, and maybe uncover a giant secret plot the entire kingdom is hiding.
Casual.
đ My Honest Thoughts (A Mix of Screaming and Eye-Rolling)
This book is so dramatic that I genuinely had to pause for breath between chapters. Like:
Chapter 2: âOh no she might dieâ
Chapter 4: âOmg DRAGONS?â
Chapter 5: âWait, did she just flirt while bleeding?â
By the middle of the book I had fully accepted that this is not literature. This is not fine art.
This is Dragon Academy Thirst Trapâą and I am a paying subscriber. đ
But seriously⊠it's fun. Itâs messy. Itâs addictive.
Itâs like drinking a spiked energy drink while someone yells âPLOT TWISTâ every ten pages.
đ€ The Romance (aka: Why Are Enemies So Hot?)
Violet and Xaden have chemistry that could set a village on fire. And possibly did.
It's angsty. It's steamy. It's a little bit fanfic-flavored, and I mean that in the BEST way.
But donât expect it to be all sunshine and shirtless sword fights. Thereâs emotional depth, trauma, and some serious betrayal vibes that might have you yelling at your Kindle.
StillâŠ
Would I risk my life for a man who rides a dragon and speaks in one-liners?
Yes. Yes, I would.
đ Dragons: The True Stars
If you donât fall in love with Tairn (the grumpy old dragon) and Andarna (the baby dragon who naps constantly), are you even reading correctly?
Yarros somehow made me care about giant winged beasts like they were grumpy roommates.
And I want merch. I want plushies. I want them to adopt me.
đŹ Final Verdict
Fourth Wing is not perfect. The pacing is wild. Some of the dialogue is pure Instagram caption energy.
But guess what?
Itâs fun. And thatâs enough.
It made me laugh. It made me scream. It made me Google âcan dragons be real.â
If you want literary art, go read Tolkien.
If you want emotional chaos with a side of dragon fire and enemies you want to kiss-slash-murder?
This is your book.
đ„ Should You Read It?
Do you like...Then YES, read it.
â Enemies-to-lovers with actual fire
â Dragon politics + secret rebellions
â Spice with a dash of âdid he just growl??â
â Deep character development
â (surprisingly!)Needing the sequel IMMEDIATELYâAbsolutely.
đ Buy the Book / Support the Chaos
If you're into dragons, drama, and emotional damage â grab Fourth Wing.
And if youâve already read it?
DM me. I have theories. We need to scream together.
